How best to transition from paved running to trail running?

I'm working on running a 5k. I've been running on a paved trail and am getting sport at running 3miles. The race I signed up for is a trail run. How should I go about transitioning so I'm not overwhelmed on the day of the marathon?
First off, get some trail shoes.

No change is really needed. Just start running on the dirt. Trail runs are a lot of fun and very dissimilar form road races. I think you will enjoy the experience.

What is the difference between a trail running shoe and a hiking shoe?

I have been hiking a lot lately and have perfectly been using my nike running shoes, I have been struggling as I have been getting into steeper ground, so I am needing a better hiking shoe, will trail running shoes industry, or do I have to get hiking
for running, you don't impecuniousness a chunky shoe that you would need for hiking.you want a lightweight, apposite shoe. for hiking, you want a comfortable, protective boot.
